The CarLoader program is a utility for Midtown Madness 1 and 2. What it does is handle all the new cars and mods that come out for the game. It is really practical if you have alot of cars and mods but you don't want to use them all the time. With this program you don't need to know what the filename is, you just select or unselect it in the list depending if you want it in the game or not.

• The main function is to allow the user to easily select what cars and other addons to be loaded into the game.
• Works with both Midtown Madness 1 and 2.
• Automatic scanning of the name of the car, now also able to scan another name defined by the creator (see carloader.txt for more info).
• Now you can also see a picture of the car or other information with the view function (see carloader.txt for more info).
• Built in function for stopping the "Yikes" message to appear.
• Scans your MM directory before launching the game to find files that could crash the game.
• Now possible to switch between several MM directories.

After not doing anything on the program for more than half a year I have decided to stop completely. I still think that it is a good program and can probably be developed more so thats why I'm putting all the source code and whatever other files that are connected to the project. Personally I feel that I don't have the time or the motivation to keep developing it myself but I hope that someone picks it up and does something with it.

2002-01-31 After a long time of not doing anything on the program I have decided to release all the source code to all that wants to use it.

2001-04-02 It was a while since i updated but I have had ALOT of stuff to do. But now I will probably start working on a new version with some of the new ideas that I have for the program: automatic update from the internet, choosing which options to run the game with(no movie, no sound, etc) and some other stuff.

2001-02-24 I'm already getting some reports of problems, its the Windows 2000 compatability again. Poeple are getting a message with Run-time error 429. I'm trying to find out what this is and what to do about it.

2001-02-24 The new program is now released, go get it at the download section. The page was also changed slightly, I thought that it would look better with these colors.

2001-02-04 I have now started the testing of v2.2. It will be out soon. The download will now be alot smaller, less than 200k

2001-02-03 In version 2.2 you will also be able to cancel the scanning of filenames if you think that it takes to long.

2001-01-31 Have been working on a few new functions for the new 2.2 version that I will be releasing soon.
Now you can handle your files from both mm1 and 2 in the same program and you can easily switch between them. You will also be able to scan the directories for files that can make the game crash (mm1 files in the mm2 directory, invalid .ar files, etc.).

2001-01-06 Another bug found, will be fixed in when i have the time, not that big of a problem. More info further down.

2000-11-04 Thanks to Rasmus who sent me a mail with the file listing of mm2 I could fix Car Loader so that it can now be used with mm2 without any problems(I hope, I still haven't got the game myself). The new version(2.1.8) can be downloaded from the downloads section. If you downloaded v2.1.7 you can download the small file and just unzip it over the old files and it will work.

2000-11-04 I'm proud to announce that I had over 100 downloads in the first 24 hours of v2.1.7 being released.

2000-11-02 Compiled the new version of the program(2.1.7), it can now also handle Midtown Madness 2 files but i haven't really been able to test it yet because the game hasn't been released in Sweden. So if someone could send me a listing of the files in the mm2 directory I could make sure that it really works like it should.

2000-11-01 The web page was finished.

All the files should work properly because they have for me and a few thousand of other people on various computer configurations. But if something, against all odds, do go horribly wrong its not my fault, you are yourself totally responsible for everything you run on your computer.

I would also like to say something about you using the source code and about putting the files somewhere else:
If you use the source in alot and not just some small part I would really like it if you said so somewhere.
If you want to put these files somewhere else, please don't, just link to this page. I can't really explain how annoying it has been to get mail after mail with people complaining about bugs I already fixed.
